To grandly celebrate the 76th National Day and commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Dongjiang Water Supply to Hong Kong, the Yau Tsim Mong District Office and the London Ball Foundation are jointly organisation this event. They have specially invited students from the "Strive and Rise Programme" to participate. Under the theme "Diversity and Inclusion • Creativity Converges in Hong Kong", the event aims to deepen society's recognition and sense of belonging towards the nation's development through culture, arts, and community collaboration, while simultaneously showcasing Hong Kong's diversity, inclusion, and dynamic innovation as an international metropolis.
Remembering Our Roots, Sinking Roots in Hong Kong, Giving Back to Society
The London Ball Foundation is a charitable organization founded by a group of overseas returnee graduates, dedicated to encouraging overseas talent to return to Hong Kong to start businesses, seek employment, and give back to society. This event takes "Remembering the Source when Drinking Water" as its core, calling on people from all backgrounds to remember that Hong Kong is the foundation of their home and to contribute together to the prosperity of this land. We particularly encourage the younger generation of overseas returnees to actively contribute their knowledge and skills to Hong Kong, practicing the spirit of "Remembering the Source," while strengthening their sense of belonging to Hong Kong and the nation.
Promoting Artistic Creativity, Nurturing the New Generation of Designers
We have invited student designers from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Hong Kong Design Institute to participate in a fashion design competition based on the theme "Integration of Multi-ethnicity and Chinese Culture." Through workshops, professional training, and exchange opportunities, we will witness the creative achievements of young designers, with multi-ethnic children personally modeling these culturally integrated garments. Outstanding designers will not only receive prize money but also have the opportunity to see their work exhibited in the flagship stores of Hong Kong's traditional craft and culture establishments, providing them with a platform for practice and development, and promoting the long-term growth of local creative culture.
Promoting International Inclusion, Deepening the Sense of Social Belonging
As an international city, Hong Kong brings together diverse ethnicities from around the world. In Yau Tsim Mong District alone, there are communities of Indian, Pakistani, Nepalese, Indonesian, Filipino, Korean, Japanese, and other ethnicities. We hope this event will provide more care and support for multi-ethnic groups, assist them in understanding Chinese culture, and encourage them to continue developing and contributing their strengths in Hong Kong. The event is located in Yau Tsim Mong, the district with the highest concentration of multi-ethnic residents in Hong Kong, and will be held against the magnificent backdrop of the Victoria Harbour waterfront, symbolizing Hong Kong's diversity, inclusion, and international outlook.
This event is a significant practice in uniting the community and promoting social harmony. We hope that through the integration of multi-ethnic elements and Chinese culture, we can showcase Hong Kong's unique role and mission in the nation's development, while providing more opportunities for the younger generation to jointly build a more vibrant and brilliant Hong Kong.
