Inaugural Celebration of The London Ball raising funds for Oxfam HK
The London Ball Foundation from Hong Kong held an inaugural celebration of the London Ball on 4th November 2022 to help raise funds for Oxfam Hong Kong’s Charity, which supports people to lift themselves out of poverty and thrive.
The event invited Officiating guest – Victor Chu CBE, Chair of UCL Council, Pollyanna Chu Yuet Wah to enjoy a fun-filled day including our honourable performers William So, James Yen, Natalie Chan, Audrey Lin and Clara Li. With help from supporters, the London Ball Foundation raised the first donation through ticket sale and auction. Thanks for all our supporters, all tickets were sold out for just 1 week!
Sandy Lau, Chairlady of The London Ball Foundation, says: “… making this not only a networking evening, but a project we work together to help people in need in Hong Kong, a very meaningful food program from Oxfam.” With a clear focus on legacy, the London Ball Foundation can be a powerful catalyst for transformation and sustainable development of social welfare and to create a positive impact for Hong Kong.
The theme for the London Ball 2022 is Empowering A Healthy Future. We are living in very challenging times, when health and education are among the topmost concerns of governments, universities, and non-governmental organisations. As benefactors of British education with a deep connection to the local community, the Hong Kong alumni associations of University College London , London School of Economics, Imperial College London, Kings’ College London, London Business School, University of the Arts London, have taken this opportunity to come together to organise, for the first time, an event to raise funds in support of charitable causes of associated Universities, and a food programme run by Oxfam Hong Kong to help local low-income families survive and navigate through this difficult time.
The value of our academic pursuits did not end with graduation and a couple lines of text on the curriculum vitae. It also created a community of capable and helpful people that share the same values. Together, we formed The London Ball Foundation, to host the first ever London Ball in 2022, uniting a network of distinguished and honoured alumnus and graduates from the top universities in London, bringing together engineers, entrepreneurs, artists and professionals from all fields alike to enjoy an exquisite night of friendly exchanges for a charitable cause!
Collectively, we have a combined number of over 10,000 alumni networks, spanning across decades of graduation years. This congregation of alumni represents distinguished scholars, entrepreneurs, engineers, financiers and professionals from all fields. At a venue as prestigious as the Grand Hyatt, we aim to foster new connections and friendship like no other.
Besides providing an enjoyable evening for our alumnus, The London Ball Foundation wants to encourage meaningful engagement between members of different alumni associations, and inspire compassion through our charity cause to all, a food programme run by Oxfam in Hong Kong.
Together, may we bring positivity, impact, and innovation to Hong Kong and beyond.
